If the writers involved in the series were to write a novel, which detailed the finale of the story told of Deadwood, would we not all run out to buy it? MANY have purchased another book of Deadwood written from the perspective of Charlie Utter, thinking it was the basis of the series.

Why not a story to end the story?
Like you, am really bummed about John Noble's omission from the best actor list. Look forward to your article on him!

Enjoy SDCC.

PS Zac Levi - is pronounced with a hard 'i' ie. Lee-veye not with a hard 'e' ie. Lee-vee as you are doing.

Another solid podcast. It's great that you have a J(opinion) on each one... you don't just pick all whilly-nilly. (bonus points for use of whilly-nilly). Now that I'm on twitter, i can't wait for emmy-twitter analysis live. Go Jo!

I am compelled to respond only because I have not heard a sentiment that mirrors my own. I am your comerade in arms as one moved and changed by Deadwood. I am surprised that among the range of responses , there is an almost unanimous anger at HBO and David Milch. I think both is misplaced. HBO is a commercial enterprise and acts toward furtherance of its own agenda. Why does the viewer expect that they operated out of concern for us? I don't think this has ever been the case back to the beginnings of film and TV. To throw out the baby with the bathwater by quitting to watch any HBO series only deprives the viewer of other series of great quality. They don't all end early. There are not a lot of alternatives and one could expect that there is more of quality to come. I don't want to be left with just Showtime.
If completion is what is needed for satisfaction, that is a valid requirement. Many of the quality series have ended with no resolution to many story lines, including the Sopranos. David Milch has said in his commentary that we shouldnt draw conclusions about what hasn't been concluded; just to put one foot in front of the other and go on.

But to me, the glass is half full. My wife and I have received so much satisfaction from the 36 strolls we made down the thoroughfaire to the Gem, that we choose to not rant on what we didn't get; only to appreciate what we did get.
JFC, being only one season, doesn't linger on the palate as deeply. The relative quality of these two series is a matter of opinion. I liked them both; but JFC to us, never approached the Shakespearian level of dialogue that could take a vile word like cocksucker and make it resound with a comfort in the context of masterful poetry.
I don't see where David Milch or any other artist/writer ever implied an obligation to provide any more than what his choice or the chains of possibilities imposed by the network enabled. How about giving thanks for what we got instead of what we didn't. MAybe we should hang Mozart for dying so young and not even finishing his last works. Let's lynch him. Like Tony Soprano said of his mother.... she could have a Smithfield ham under her arm and she would be bitching that she was without enough bread to go with it.

In a more macro viewpoint, maybe we should bitch that our very lives will "get cancelled" before the plotlines play out.

So, to David Milch and all the actors, personell and everybody connected, I want to say Thanks for everything you gave us. Life is better for your efforts.

Jo!

Loved the second podcast. I read your Lost blog for what feels like forever - second to missing the actual show I've totally been in withdrawal each week missing reading your blogs - which is why I was SO excited you were going to podcast.

With all of that, please feel the love as I say this ... you are SO great! Remember that as you begin. You sound a little timid at first, but as you get into the 'jopinions' about the shows you can hear your confidence - remember that! Use that! We love you for you uncensored opinions! Bring it girl!

I know as you become comfortable with the medium, you will find your 'true' voice and I am excited for you in doing so.

Keep up the awesome work! Until next time ... truly a fan ~
Nice Job Jo... thanks for the shout out.

I'm also intrigued to watch Persons Unknown. Hopefully it's a good show... I just set it to record over the weekend. I did catch the pilot of Warehouse 13 via iTunes free download awhile back. It seemed fun, although I didnt set it to record.

Hey Jo,
Another good podcast. Thanks, you always give me ideas for other shows I might like to watch. I don't have time for a lot of shows so I'm pretty picky about what I watch.
Do you know if Justified is on Netflix? They only have 5 episodes online and only 3 on demand.
Your comments about Persons Unknown looking like a set on the universal lot were funny, that's exactly what I thought while watching.
I too am hoping for more with Riggins' character on FNL, he's funny, love his "relationship" with the landlord's daughter.
I think once/week is good for your podcast and 20 min. was a nice length. I don't listen to a lot of podcasts mainly because they're so long.
Also liked your sign off.
Podcasts work better with 2 or more people IMHO.

Solo casts are tough to do.

Recommend guests going forward. If you need volunteers I would be honoured!

;)

Best of luck!

Look forward to future installments.
