The X-Files 2, or How I'm Failing Mulder & Scully

I am an x-failure. For years I have billed myself as a die-hard fan.  To many, that I have yet to see The X-Files: I Want to Believe is, well...hard to believe.

I am out of excuses, but I would like to state that despite overwhelmingly negative reviews from friends and general word-of-mouth, it tops my list of must-see summer films.  I. Have. To. See. It.

This delay is painful, believe me. It is akin to missing a new episode of Lost

So of course I will provide a full report after I drag myself to the theater.

p.s. I added this Polish poster because it's far cooler than the U.S. version.

First of all, that poster...*YOINK*...thanks! lol

Second, I saw the movie, and must say, if you are a TRUE fan, you are still going to enjoy it! It is fun to see M&S back together...it is fun to catch the little inside jokes, easter eggs, and throwbacks to older episodes. and...it's just, well...fun!

The downside: i think they waited too long for one thing. Little lack of energy overall. it's not this huge, stylistic FILM experience like the first X-Files movie was. It's more like a 2-hour episode. that's all. A fun little episode of the X-Files, just like old times...

    My grade would be B-.

That IS better than the US poster! Tx for posting it.

I agree. As a total X-Phile myself, I went with big hopes, and left with a kind of, "is that all there is" feeling. I'm glad I saw it, I wouldn't have missed it. But I don't understand how minimalist and understated it was. That's just not been the X-Files style. Even the Mark Snow score was rather underwhelming, to me. Not at all as vibrant as the first movie's score, which I can listen to over and over.

Well, I still recommend seeing it. But it still makes me wonder what happened.
