My Netflix Queue Needs You
Sigh.
Lately I have been disappointed by movies both in theaters and on DVD. So I am seeking your assistance. Yes, I had a contest late last year, asking for suggestions (some of which are included below). But I got picky and lazy, and now I'm seeking new inspiration.
Here is an alphabetical list of the films (and one TV series) that are currently in my Netflix queue. Some are new releases, others are older movies I've always wanted to see. If you've seen any of them and have an opinion one way or another, please let me know by leaving a comment. In addition, feel free to make other recommendations.

Dan In Real Life is sort of....cute but blah.
I watched Shampoo this weekend and Louis CK off my Netflix. Shampoo sucked shit but the Louis CK was bomb even though I've seen it before.
Next up: The Tudors (Season 1, Disc 2) and Elizabeth.
Have you seen The Jane Austen Book Club? I seriously think its one of my fav movies.

I look forward to Dan in Real Life, but only if I can ignore Dane Cook entirely. Who on earth deemed him worthy of being in films? Yikes.
I need to start renting older movies like Shampoo, but Louis CK is not my style. I tried to watch his HBO show, Lucky Louie. Yikes again.
Never got into The Tudors, but Elizabeth (the first one) is a favorite in our household.
Here is my original review of The Jane Austen Book Club. I am sorry to report that I do not share your enthusiasm for it, although it is a decent rental.

My favorites on your list are:
Hedwig and the Angry Inch and Sweeney Todd, the musicals of course.
Also, we just watched Paris, Je t'aime and loved it. Hope that helps!

Here are the must-sees: "The Assassination of Jesse James", "Pan's Labyrinth", "The Savages" & "Sweeney Todd."
I too have a lengthy Netflix list. There isn't enough time in the day for all of my entertainment needs! Wait...if I didn't have a real job...

Y Tu Mama Tambien - is a must watch. It showcases the acting talents of Diego Luna and Gael Garcia Bernal before they "blew up." Ask wifey about this one - she'll tell you.
Gael Garcia Bernal was also in Amores Perros which was also great. I'd compare it to a Spanish Pulp Fiction in the way the story plays out.
Pan's Labyrinth is good in a "Fantasy Land" style and you should also add The Orphanage (produced by Guillermo Del Torro). I saw it in theatres and loved it. Drama/Suspense/Horror similar style to The Others.
Note to Jo: All of these movies are in Spanish and subtitled in English. I always find foreign films have more of an emotional connection than American Films.

Let's see if I can play by the rules: Murder in the First is a good one. Not sure if Mr. Bacon was nominated, but he delivers the performance of his life. I have to agree with briankelley2 that the two Guillermo Del Torro movies are worth watching, even if I disagree with his previous comments on Jesse James, particularly Baby Afleck's performance.

I might have to move Jesse James to the top of the list, if only because two of my more frequent movie comment contributors have such varying opinions of it...
Brian and Mr. O, I will report back to you after I watch it.

This list is all well and good, but what, my dear Jo, will you be seeing in theaters this summer? Any must-sees? Any guess at what will be the sleeper? I need your pop-culture guidance!

I'd suggest moving Margot at the Wedding further down the list. When the little red envelope came, we were excited. With this cast and this director -- it had to be a hit. Nope. It was all over the place in terms of story and by the end, we just wanted to see the credits roll.
